It has control over mainland of China and has largely self- governing territories of the Hong Kong since year 1997 and Macau since 1999, while Republic of China is known as Taiwan or Nationalist China and has control over island of Taiwan, Kinmen, Mastsu and Pescadores. Culture of China is historically sphere and has extended across the East Asia.
